Puto is a Filipino steamed rice cake. The cake part is a bit sweet, very soft, pillowy, and usually topped with savory cheese or salted duck egg. It pairs well with savory dishes, holding it's spot as one of the staple side dishes during fiestas and celebrations. It is most well-known paired with Dinuguan (pork blood stew) and Pancit (Filipino stir fry noodles). This recipe is my go to because of how fast it is to whip up alongside my Beanuguan (Vegan No Pork Blood Stew).
